Erie Home contributes $3,800 to the Red Cross toward the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Erie Home, a regional home product and remodeling company headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, has pledged nearly $3,800 to the American Red Cross in support of East Coast communities rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.
“Our thoughts go out to the individuals and families displaced by Hurricane Sandy, and we hope our contribution will help their recovery as they rebuild their communities and their lives,” said Patrick Trompeter, CEO and founder of Erie Home, “we have a commitment to the communities we serve, and we hope to find more ways to help those in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.”
Hurricane Sandy devastated many Northeast and Mid-Atlantic communities who are now suffering from widespread power outages, significant flooding, erosion, and wind damage from the storm. The American Red Cross has been responding in multiple states by distributing supplies and aid with relief workers coordinating shelters and thousands of ready-to-eat meals for those affected. “This will be a large, costly relief response, and we need help now,” said Charley Shimanski, senior vice president of Disaster Services for the Red Cross, “people can help by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief online, by text, or by phone.”
To donate, people can visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions can also be sent by mail to your local Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
“Erie Home will continue to aid communities here in the United States and abroad by giving to education funds, disaster relief, public health and cancer funds, and humanitarian charities,” Trompeter recounts, “it’s important we give back to ensure the livelihood and well-being of the communities we live and work in.”
Prior to Hurricane Sandy, Erie Home donated thousands of dollars in non-perishable food items, toiletries, equipment, and gift cards to Aurora House of Toledo, a shelter and life skills program that empowers homeless women and their children, after having mission-critical supplies and resources destroyed in a house fire. There were no injuries.
Erie Home also donated over $13,300 to Red Cross Japan following the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and matched employee monetary donations for the Red Cross Haiti Assistance Program to aid those recovering from the 2010 earthquake.
